Xiaomi Mi 9 SE gets bricked after MIUI 10.3.1.0 OTA update - How to fix it

For some days now, Xiaomi MI 9SE users have been getting their phone bricked after updating to the latest latest MIUI global stable update. The update is currently being rolled out via OTA and the affected users are mostly from Europe.
The update which is the firmware MIUI 10.3.1.0 to EEA is the latest stable version which is being rolled out to the European region. This problem is currently affecting users who purchased their Mi 9 SE smartphone from Xiaomi's authorised retailer in Europe and not those who imported the grey color version of the Mi 9 SE.

For now, Xiaomi hasn't released an official fix for this issue which is currently affecting a large number of users. If you haven't updated yet, it's advisable you don't until the issue has been resolved and in case you have already updated and your phone happened to be bricked, then try the fix below.

How to Fix bootloop on MIUI 10.3.1.0 on MI 9 SE
  • Install Adb and fastboot on your PC by clicking Here
  • Boot into fastboot mode by pressing volume down and power until you see the mi bunny.
  • Run minimal adb & fastboot on a pc
  • Plug phone to pc
  • Run "fastboot devices" you should see a line with device id & fastboot
  • Run "fastboot continue"
  • This will boot up your device and return you back to MIUI 9.2.9
